The North American Division is proud to announce that two new associate directors will be joining Youth and Young Adult Ministries.
LGBT+ Summit Raises Awareness for Leadership

The LGBT+ Summit, led by Chris Blake, Communications Professor at Union College and former editor of Insight Magazine, (and sponsored by the North American Division Youth & Young Adult Ministries Department), allowed an intentional and well facilitated discussion regarding the LGBT+ community at the LGBT+ Summit “Is Loving Enough”.
We had a wide variety of representatives at this Summit – from young adult Adventist, who are LGBT+, Adventist parents of LGBT+ young people, pastors, teachers, and conference leaders who work with individuals affected by this topic.
One poignant sample of my experience happened on the first day of the Summit. All of the participants were divided up into table groups and guided in get-acquainted activities. Stefanie was one of the young adults at my table. As we got to know each other we laughed about various experiences in life and also shared challenges. I thought to myself, this is an awesome young lady and would make some guy really happy one day. Needless to say, when Chris Blake invited her up for an interview I was shocked to learn that she was gay.
